Thank you for visiting Phoebe Berridge Photography. I am a Bedfordshire newborn photographer based in Ickwell. I have been creating cake smash sessions for over 5 years now. I would say in the past 12 months these have become one of my most popular sessions and I absolutely *love* to photograph them.

They are full of excitement, laughter and so much fun. With a simple yet affective backdrop so that the full focus is on your little one. These sessions also double up a perfect way to celebrate your babies 1st or 2ndbirthday.

Looking for the perfect birthday gift?

What better way to celebrate a first or second birthday than with a cake smash session. Your baby wont remember this special milestone but with documenting it in photographs it’s something you can treasure for years to come and show them as they get older.

Let’s chat before you book your session?

You have the option of a simple foliage theme or a balloon garland in your choice of colors for your cake smash session. If you opt for the balloon garland I would highly recommend pale colors. Both backdrops are simple yet affect helping keep all the attention on your baby.

This session is just everything. Beginning with a mini portrait to get those stunning portrait of your baby in their cute outfit before bringing the cake out. Followed by all the cakey mess you can imagine, just sit back and relax and enjoy this special moment. To finish the session off we have a little splash time not only is it the perfect way to get little one cleaned up but it also gives you more stunning images from your session.

Step One: £69.00 is payable within 48 hours of booking to secure your slot.

Step Two: The remaining balance of £150.00 is due on your session date.

Included in this cost is 15 high resolution digital files of you’ve choice. You will select these after you’ve session from an online gallery. Where you will view your images, you will view a minimum of 20-30 images.

Let me know your little ones birthday, you may want your session before their birthday, on or around it please let me know which you’d pefer so I can give you dates which will suit your options. I can check I have availability to accommodate your session. I always aim to get back to you within 48 hours. I’ll then send you some more details on how I run my cake smash sessions, what to expect and so much more.

Once we have decided on your session date. You’ll need to secure your booking with a booking fee within 48hrs. After I receive this your session will be added to my dairy and you will get an email to confirm the booking and a welcome guide this will help prepare you for our session. It’s full of helpful tips, how to prepare for your session and what to bring with you on the day.

What is cake smash photography?

It’s a session where we have a cake baker prepare a cake for your baby to smash! Yep it’s that simple and its fun and a great way to celebrate a birthday with.

How many photos are in a cake smash session?

You’ll receive an online gallery with a minimum of 20-30 images to view but more often than not it’s a lot more than this.

What to expect at a cake smash session?

A cake smash session normally takes around 45-60 minutes from start to finish. This includes the mini portrait, the cake and the bath splash too. I will capture your baby from portraits, playing/eating the cake and then we finish with getting baby cleaned up.

Should I have a cake smash before or after my baby’s birthday?

It’s entirely up to you. Some like to do it before hand so they have the images back for their birthday please let me know this when booking. Others like to do it on their birthday (availability permitting) as a way to celebrate and some many want to do it after. There is no wrong or right answer.

How do you prepare for a cake smash session?

I will help you with this process with our welcome guide. But my top tips, bring savory snacks for baby, even better if you can bring something similar colour to the cake incase they aren’t a loved and we can hide these within the cake. A sippy cup/drink - water you’ll find they get more thirsty than normal. Their favorite toy is also a great idea for getting those smiley shots.

What is the age limit for a cake smash?

A cake smash session is the perfect way to celebrate a birthday. Most people tend to celebrate a 1st or 2ndbirthday with a cake smash. But there is no age limit.

What do babies wear for a cake smash?

I have lots of beautiful outfits to choose from on the day. But if you wish to bring your own - Diaper covers, bloomers or a romper.

What if my baby doesn’t really like the cake smash?

This can happen, like anything when it comes to little ones we have no idea how they will react. But please don’t panic, we will help encourage little one, join in to help them sometimes they just need a little hand to warm up and away they go. This is why some of their favorite snacks are ideal to bring with you as we can hide these within the cake.

How to prepare my baby for a cake smash session?

Messy play! I cannot recommend doing this with your baby before booking a cake smash session this will help get your baby used to different textures and things being on their hands as the icing is sticky. I would also recommend giving them some cake prior to your session, this way you can check for any allergies beforehand and make sure they like/enjoy the cake on the day.
